Our Venue Director Nadine looks ahead to what's coming up this year.
This season, Hastings White Rock continues its evolution as a buzzing cultural hub, alive with big nights out, community celebration and moments that bring us all together.
Our commitment to young people and creative opportunities shines brightly this summer with Shrek the Musical, running from 13 to 15 August. With 100 local young performers creating a top-quality production, this joyful, larger-than life show promises the perfect family treat and a brilliant example of what can happen when talent, teamwork and ambition collide on our stage.
Hastings Comic Con returns on 20 and 21 June, transforming the venue into a colourful celebration of pop culture. Alongside this, our community events programme continues to thrive with the Hastings International Piano Competition, Hastings Beatles Day, Hastleons 100th anniversary, and the Hastings Gang Show celebrating its 60th anniversary. These events sit at the heart of who we are and who we serve.
Comedy fans are spoiled for choice this season, with a stellar line-up including Jen Brister, Angela Barnes, Urzila Carlson and Ed Byrne, each bringing their own hilarious observations to the stage. Studio 27 remains a space for contemporary music, featuring Dub Pistols, Peatbog Faeries, TEZ and Henry Wagons in the programme this season, alongside a highlight from our Classical Series, The Lark Ascending by Ensemble 360, part of The Guildhall Trust’s co-production with Music in the Round.
From big-name acts to grassroots creativity, from laughter-filled nights to meaningful community moments, our programme continues to grow in variety and ambition, and we are delighted to share this journey with you.
