Celebrating 40 years since their multimillion selling debut album, The Christians are touring the UK to remind audiences why they remain one of the finest live acts. That self-titled album in 1987 became the highest-selling debut album by any artist in the history of Island Records and produced five UK Top 40 singles.
The band from Liverpool are renowned for a string of soulful and socially aware hits like ‘Harvest for the World’, ‘Ideal World’, ‘Forgotten Town’, ‘Born Again’, ‘What’s in a Word’, ‘Hooverville’, ‘Words’, ‘Father’, ‘The Bottle’ and more.
Still fronted by enigmatic lead singer Garry Christian who The Daily Mirror described as having “one of the finest voices in pop”, The Christians are still delivering 40 years later. Chris Evans even said one of their live performances in 2013 “was the best gig I’ve ever been to”.
They’ve toured in recent years with The Blow Monkeys, Wet Wet Wet, Belinda Carlisle, Go West, Hue & Cry, Roachford and Level 42.
