Studio 27 seated | Start time: 7:30pm

Studio 27 welcomes Warwickshire-based folk-rock favourites Meet On The Ledge. The band are celebrating thirty-three-and-a-third years together with their ‘Third of a Century’ Tour. Local music fans might remember MOTL from their regular appearances at the Black Horse Festival in Telham in the late 90s and early 2000s.

The concert will feature the band’s lifeboat epic ‘The Mary Stanford of Rye‘ which was released in 1996 and has become an international folk standard in its own right. The band have always donated all royalties from the song to the RNLI, and they will be making a donation to the Friends of the Mary Stanford Lifeboat House from this concert’s proceeds.

Founder members Ron Holmes and Allen Maslen still remain from when MOTL began as a folk duo in 1992. Today they are a five-piece band, augmented by keyboard player Steve Bird, drummer Bo Davies, and Craig Sunderland on bass.

Keyboardist Steve has an impressive CV, having played keys for 1960s chart topper Eden Kane (“Well I Ask You”) and 70s chart topper Don Fardon (“Indian Reservation”) as well as being in the backing band for the legendary Marty Wilde. Drummer Bo was lead percussionist for Wasps Rugby Club at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, and was also a founder member of festival favourites Sambassadors of Groove. Bassist Craig has a growing reputation as one of the finest multi-instrumentalists on the UK folk circuit. His recently released solo album The Flamebearer is receiving rave reviews.

Critics and reviewers have tried many times to pigeonhole MOTL’s music with varying degrees of success. The band’s favourite critical description of their music is “Big Country in a bar brawl with Thin Lizzy.”

This concert will showcase the various styles and influences that have helped the band become a favourite on the UK folk festival circuit for over 30 years, including their own self-penned material, alongside high octane arrangements of traditional folk songs, and a few snippets from their hugely successful Pink Floyd tribute set, which toured the UK throughout 2023 and 2024.
