Award-winning comics creator, scriptwriter, campaigner and former UK Comics Laureate 2019-21, Hannah Berry, tops the bill of comic artists confirmed for Artists

Award-winning comics creator, scriptwriter, campaigner and former UK Comics Laureate 2019-21, Hannah Berry, tops the bill of comic artists confirmed for Artists Alley at Hastings Comic Con (20th-21st June 2026).

Berry is the author of three critically acclaimed graphic novels published by Jonathan Cape: off-beak noir Britten & Brülightly (Official Selection Angoulême International Comics Festival); creeping horror Adamtine (currently in development as a feature film); and political satire Livestock (winner ‘Best Writer’ at the Broken Frontier Awards). She has also contributed comics to anthologies and publications from 2000AD to the New England Journal of Medicine.

A prestigious name in the UK literary comic scene, Berry is the organiser of the UK Comics Creator Surveys, a founding committee member of the Society of Authors’ Comics Creators Network, and a founding co-director of the Comics Cultural Impact Collective (CCIC), both of which advocate loudly for comics and comics creators.

Joining Hannah is the Irish comic artist, Cian Tormey, who until recently was working exclusively for DC Comics. He is the Eisner Nominated artist for DC’s Alan Scott: The Green Lantern, and the GLAAD Media Award-nominated Superman: Son of Kal-El. Tormey most recently finished the series, The Question: All Along the Watchtower, for the DC All In event, adding to a body of work that includes Injustice: Year Zero, Action Comics, Nightwing, Catwoman, Batgirl, Marvel’s Darkhold, and more.

Also in Artists Alley will be British comics writer, Jordan Thomas, and industry veteran Rob Williams.

Thomas is known for his work across multiple genres including writing for Flash Gordon and EC Comics and other anthologies. He also co-created Mugshots at Mad Cave Studios, Weird Work at Image Comics, Exorcism Island at Comixology, as well as Skin Police and The Man From Maybe at Oni Press.

Williams has written for 2000AD for 20 years and is the writer of Judge Dredd graphic novels such as Rend & Tear With Tooth & Claw, A Better World and The Small House. Williams has written extensively for DC Comics and Marvel Comics on titles such as Suicide Squad and Ghost Rider, as well as writing Hellboy for Dark Horse. Several of his creator-owned comics are in development for film and TV, most notably Unfollow for Sony Television and Petrol Head with Mr B Films. He is also the screenwriter of the movie Game, a British thriller recently released by Invada Films.

Hastings Comic Con Producer Curt Hill commented, “From the very beginning, Hastings Comic Con has been created with incredible comic artists at its heart. Artists Alley isn’t just a feature of the event; it’s the core of it. We wanted to create a space where fans can meet the people who actually make the comics they love, talk to them, learn from them, and really connect with the craft behind the stories.”

Hastings Comic Con is back after a hugely successful first year in 2025. As well as a fresh line-up of artists in Artists Alley, the 2026 sequel will feature a Doctor Who display, an Escape Room Experience by Puzzle Party, plus the return of incredible merchandise in Trader Village, retro gaming, cosplay parades, and celebrity guests.
