Led by Hammond organ-guru, James Taylor, JTQ stands with one foot planted in the 2020s, and the other, just as firmly, somewhere south of the 1970s.
For more than 35 years The James Taylor Quartet have set the standard for the coolest sounds in funky acid jazz. On dozens of critically acclaimed albums and at their legendary live shows both at home and around the world, they’ve quietly become a byword for distinguished British creativity.
In addition to his work with JTQ – James has collaborated with the likes of U2, The Wonderstuff, Manic Street Preachers, The Pogues, as well as with Tom Jones on the multi-platinum album Reload.
JTQ are perhaps best-known and best loved for their unrivalled live performances. With James’s Hammond leading the way, JTQ jam out with funky rhythms and kitschy-cool melodies – their concerts include reworkings of classics such as ‘Green Onions’ and ‘Time Is Tight’, as well as JTQ’s debut single ‘Blow Up’ and favourites such as ‘JTQ Theme’ and, of course, the inimitable, ‘Starsky and Hutch’.

"James Taylor keeps it swinging, fun and unpretentious"
"The band's impressive live reputation holds fast - like the Hammond organ, it takes jazz and funk and gives it a righteous, spinning roar"
"More than enough Hammond-organised power to grab the attention of the most indifferent audience!’"
